The Ishikawa Prefecture Public Safety Committee (chaired by Kōtarō Gotō) has issued a cease and desist order to Kaga City Katayamadzu Onsen Soapland “The Executive Suite” for violating restrictions on the sex industry, it was learned on the 3rd.

That day, the Daishōji Police Department released a notice that it will execute the committee’s decision, which was made on September 29.

The Prefectural Police Department Health and Public Safety Division said it made the decision after gathering that the soapland’s business was based on activities forbidden by prefectural regulations of the sex industry.

The soapland had been closed since this January, when it was accused of illegally hosting prostitution. It will be out of business from October 3 onward.

Some citizens had started a signature campaign to keep the soapland open. In opposition to that, this June Kaga City started a “Katayamadzu Hot Spring Emergency Revival Project” to investigate how to close down the soapland and remake the street on which it’s located.

Mayor Shūichi Teramae said, “Because The Executive Suite was located in a place where a new spa will open next April, this was a very important decision for us. We’d like to spring off this project and revitalize the neighborhood.”

On the other hand, the 58-year old man who manages the soapland said, “I can’t stand for this. No other soaplands have been investigated or ordered to close. I’m going to talk with my lawyer about how to respond, and I’ll look into filing a lawsuit.”

According to the police department, the numbers of soaplands nationwide that were ordered to close for violating sex industry regulations in recent years were 1 in 2008, 2 in 2009, and 1 in 2010.
