Three Sony PSN Hacking Suspects Released on Bail

Three Sony PSN Hacking Suspects Released on Bail
Yomiuri Shimbun: 逮捕のハッカー3人保釈…ソニー流出、関与捜査
Staff Report from Paris, June 11

On the 10th, the Spanish federal police announced it still does not have definitive proof that the three suspects it was holding hacked into Sony’s PlayStation Network server and stole over 100 million people’s personal data, according to the AP and other sources.

The police confirmed that one suspect’s home computer had traces of a large-scale DDoS (denial-of-service attack) on Sony’s website carried out using bandwidth from multiple hijacked computers.

Since personal data was leaked from the PSN server in April, however, no direct evidence linking the suspects to the hack has been discovered. The police are still carefully investigating. The three suspects have already been released on bail.
