杜克大學 ~ Duke University

Though it’s already been two years since I graduated, my four years at Duke are still branded in my memory. Duke is a private school in North Carolina, not far from the state university. Not only the undergraduate college but also the graduate schools receive a lot of applications. Though I had some boring classes there, by and large the professors were knowledgeable intheir fields and good teachers.
Besides the basketball team and court, Duke’s famous places are the Chapel and the Gardens in the center of campus. Although the Chapel was completed in 1935, it has the model of a Gothic cathedral. The Gardens are beautiful no matter the season. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable and best times to visit.
Although I majored in Philosophy, I was also interested in foreign culture, and since Duke had a campus in Madrid, I studied abroad in Spain for five months. I lived with a host family. At first, I wasn’t used to the language, and even my host mother said, “Tu hablas muy mal.” But I improved every day and finally became fluent in Spanish.
I don’t mind ICLP’s workload. Perhaps it’s because I got used to it in college; I don’t think that 5-6 hours of sleep a night is too little. Most Duke students are deathly busy. My student activities, studies, and papers had me running back and forth doing errands. I had to pull all-nighters every couple weeks to finish papers. If you go to the library and look around, you’ll always see students sleeping on their books.
I think Duke’s weakest point is that tuition is too expensive. Though it has great facilities and extends financial aid to needy students, most seniors are very worried about finding a good job so they can get a return on their investment. I’m the same way. So, please help me work hard every day!Education, Schoolwork, 中文 comment below, or link to this permanent URL from your own site.
